Specific need that the project will address: Integris Mental Health Center – Spencer, is a center for mentally challenged children and adolescents, who are without families. SIFE will, through donations of clothes, toys, books, personal items, etc., provide a memorable Christmas for these special individuals.
Target audience: Mentally challenged children and adolescents housed at the Integris Mental Health Center – Spencer
Learning objectives to be achieved by the participants: As a community service project, SIFE members will enrich their lives in the true spirit of giving and hopefully the same for all those who give donations that are not a part of SIFE.
Project description/overview: SIFE will through both print, radio, and television media's inform the public about this very important project. SIFE at Rose State College will partner with other SIFE teams in the state in order to widen our donation base for the worthy cause. SIFE members will, once the donations are provided to the Center, participate in a group gift wrap with Center officials, and attend the Center's Christmas Party, in order to gain a personal relationship with the Center's residents.
Potential project partners: Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Target, Tinker AFB, Mid-Del Public Schools, SNU SIFE Team , and ECU SIFE Team.
Physical materials and educational resources needed: The only items needed for this project will be flyers, media releases, and collection containers.
People resources needed: Extensive hours in order to get flyers posted, visit with potential donors, media releases, and gift-wrapping party.
How the project activity will be documented: Both newspaper and television media will be present at the time the donations are provided to the Center, and articles will be posted in both our newsletter and Web site.
Specific tasks and corresponding deadlines required to complete the project: All donations must be collected and provided to the Center by November 30th. Media release will be made no later than than November 1st and again on November 15th. Flyers will be ready for posting no later than November 1st. RSC Professors will be contacted with student donation incentive plan no later than November 1st.
